GHY TRANSITION GRAVITY TEAM ROUNDUP

Crankworx 2016 had a huge circle around it for the GHY Bike Transition DVO race team. This is a favorite event for everyone on the team from the parents and the kids. Leading up to Crankworx, Dylan Brown was coming of his best finish of his DH career with a second in Jr expert at the NW cup stop at Stevens Pass, WA tying him with teammate Josh Gibb for second overall in the NW Cup seasons points heading into the finals at Stevens pass in September. Dylan had high hopes for Crankworx and he delivered!  Dylan’s first event was the Garbo DH one of the toughest DH races on the planet. Dylan rolled to a top ten finish on his TR500 on a very tough track in the 90 degree heat. Up next For Dylan was the Fox AirDh.  When Dylan came ripping off the GLC drop to the finish  on his Transition patrol he went into the hot seat for some time before getting bumped with a solid time of 4.25.46 which put Dylan into 10 out of 32 beating a couple World cup regulars in the process! Up next for Dylan was the Canadian open. The Canadian Open didn’t go as planned for Dylan unfortunately two crashes ended his chances for another top ten for the week.

Crankworx 2016 was Josh’s last year as Jr ex and he was primed and ready for his last Crankworx as a Jr Ex. and delivered in a big way! After getting pretty good “nudge” by Mike Lawless from FSA and Bryson Martin from DVO for Josh to race the Challenge Enduro we scrambled and put together a brand new 29er Transition Smuggler with FSA afterbunner wheels , cranks and cockpit. Josh got 3 laps in the park two days before the race and was blown away by the bike.

Josh raced in the u21 class for the Challenge Enduro. Josh held his own threw out the day with one slide out and finding a pace that worked so he had some left for the last stage. When it was all said and done Josh finished 3rd a great start to along week of racing!

Up next for Josh was the Garbo DH and he felt confident he could pull a top 5 finish after many laps on the track two weeks prior to the event. Unfortunately a broken derailleur ended his chances early in his run. Fox Air DH was on tap for Josh on Wednesday. With practice times in the four minute teen’s he knew he was in the hunt for a good run based off the last years times. Blasting over the GLC drop and cranking to the line Josh took the hot seat for a long time with a time of 4.17.98. Rider after rider came down with only one rider going quicker until the last 3 riders Josh Gibb 5th place Fox AirDh beating multiple world cup regulars. Josh’s last event of the week Dual Slalom with temps in the mid 90’s; it was a really tough event. Track was blown out and dusty, riders were suffering from the heat it was tough. When qualifying was all said and done, as it was in the 2015 Crankworx slalom, Josh Gibb was the #1 quailfier in Jr Expert. Josh marched through the field and onto the finals to face Devin Kjaer.  Josh and Devin had an epic battle in both rounds with Devin coming out on top with Josh getting the silver in Dual slalom.

After Crankworx was completed, the boys had no time to rest it was off to Bellingham, WA for the Cascade Dirt Cup Enduro in the beautiful Chuckanuts. After a long week in Whistler, Canada, the boys pulled off a 6th for Dylan in Jr Ex and Josh was 4th in Expert men we were very happy with the result in some blown out conditions that the boys had never seen.
